midsummer dreaming

Then followed that beautiful season... Summer....
Filled was the air with a dreamy and magical light; and the landscape
Lay as if new created in all the freshness of childhood.
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

It's almost here... Summer Solstice. It is lovely right now, but for a little rain... which has a way of being lovely all in itself.
For me, just being able to walk around outdoors in bare feet and no sweater is the best feeling in the world. Being so far north, we spend quite a bit of our year covered up, so this time of year gives you a little freedom. It reminds me of that freedom you felt as a child (almost). But then, you would not have called it freedom... it was simply life.
And the beauty that surrounds us is like a color box. So different from our white and grey winters.
Baseball has taken over our lives for the time being... which is just fine with me. Playoffs are next week and then it will be over for another year. Bittersweet. I will enjoy the less hectic schedule, but will miss sitting in that field cheering our boys on.

We have a couple of festivals to attend this weekend, celebrating the midsummer. And we will celebrate on our own as we do every year.

I hope you are enjoying this time of year.
